Goldenrod

Program Notes

Goldenrod (2025) is dual purpose work: a 100-year celebration of our university's mascot (the Golden Eagle of Tennessee Tech University, official chosen in 1915,) as well as a celebration of the nature that inspired the school colors (purple and gold, coming from the local native wildflowers, ironweed and goldenrod.) The proximity to the natural beauty of the central Tennessee plateau was something I experienced even before I was hired at TTU, and now that I work here, it's something that continues to make this area extremely special. I'm grateful to be able to celebrate both the school, its history, and the place we call home with this little love note of a piece.
